The Stirling Agricultural Centre represented a £10m investment in a state-of-the-art facility livestock auction mart for United Auctions (UA). Replacing a 35-year-old facility and relocating to a modern facility consolidated the position of UA in the marketplace as Scotland's leading livestock auctioneers and ensured the continuation of this facility and associated employment in the Stirling area.
The building itself extends to 145,000ft² and offers 2 sale rings, 417 pens and associated offices and ancillary retail facilities on a 5 acre site.
To satisfy the wider strategic considerations of Stirling Council, the demolition of the old mart facilitated the potential of the Kildean Loop to be unlocked with the development of Forth Valley College, a new business park, housing and leisure facilities, all the while complementing the nearby Raploch regeneration initiative.
